Wrexham v Sheffield United
Dec. 29th, 2025 03:17 pmBoxing Day and beaten by FC Hollywood (or Wrexham if you like). Truly a game of two halves – first half the Blades were on fire; then I think they were at the sherry at half time as the second half was a damp squib. So, leading 3-1, lost 5-3.
Ex-Blades player Keiffer Moore was up front for Wrexham and they were looking to get the ball to him at every opportunity. A low shot was held by Michael Cooper but then on 4 minutes, the Blades took the lead. Callum O’Hare sent the ball into the box and it was barely half a chance for Patrick Bamford, but he somehow managed to turn the ball into the net with an outrageous flicked finish.

But then OG entered the fray and the lead lasted less than a minute. Josh Windass had the space to shoot at goal but Tyler Bindon got in the way and the ball ricocheted off him into the Wrexham goal.
The game settled down a bit after that and Femi Seriki was showing some good play, especially a telling contribution as he sent over a great ball to Patrick Bamford who was left unmarked and easily turned the ball home.

After this the Blades started looking dangerous whenever they attacked. The Wrexham goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo foolishly kicked the ball out of play, when he could have just collected it. The resultant throw from Sam McCallum was diverted by Moore into the path of Callum O’Hare who bravely rose to head the ball home and the Blads had a two goal cushion.

But as we’ve seen before, after scoring, the Blades lost a bit of focus. After giving away a corner, Moore made amends and struck home powerfully, leaving Michael Cooper stuck to his line and no defence in sight.
After half time, the Blades just lost all momentum and almost gave up. I’ll not go into detail about our mistakes and lack of effort, but goals from Wrexham’s Ryan Longman a penalty taken by Josh Windass and another goal from Keiffer Moore and it was game over.
